FAQ
A filling or rough skimming and finishing compound such as Bagar Airliss G performs a dual function: it is used to prepare and finish interior walls in two coats. Its role is first to level the surface by correcting substrate defects such as hollows, scratches or slight roughness. Then, thanks to its fine texture, it can also provide a uniform finish in a second coat.
Unlike systems requiring several products, this ready-to-use paste compound saves time on jobsites. It ensures both the rough skimming of the substrate and a smooth finish, ready to receive paint or wall covering.
Although it is designed for Airless spraying, Bagar Airliss G can also be applied manually or with a roller, depending on jobsite constraints and the equipment available. This versatility of application makes it a particularly valued product both in renovation and in new-build, on all types of interior surfaces.
Bagar Airliss G is used indoors when the aim is to carry out, in a single operation, the work of both a filling compound and a finishing compound. It is ideal for correcting moderate wall irregularities and obtaining a smooth surface ready for painting. It can be applied to substrates such as concrete, plasterboards, cement-based renders or old substrates, even slightly irregular ones. It can be applied manually in the traditional way, with a roller, and also by airless and screw pump machine.
On very irregular or damaged walls, a first coat of Bagar Airliss SG, a rough skimming compound better suited to major irregularities (8 mm), can perfectly well be considered, followed by a second coat of Bagar Airliss G to smooth the surface and prepare it for finishing.
Bagar Airliss G can be used as a first coat, then covered with Bagar Airliss LF, a finishing compound, where a premium finish is required. This combination ensures a very high-quality result.
Bagar Airliss G is recommended for medium- or large-surface jobsites, where productivity is key. Its texture, versatility of application and neat finish make it a complete, fast and reliable compound, both in new-build and renovation.
A rough skimming or filling compound is a compound used to correct visible defects in a wall or ceiling up to 5 mm thick. It is used as a first coat, before any finishing work, to smooth an uneven surface. It is applied to substrates with flatness defects or hollows in order to restore a flat and clean base.
This type of compound is essential to prevent imperfections from showing through after painting. Bagar Airliss G fulfils this role when applied at a controlled thickness: it makes it possible to even out substrates while remaining fine enough to then provide a finish in a second coat without changing product.
It is this dual filling/finishing function that makes Bagar Airliss G particularly practical and economical to use, both for professionals equipped for Airless spraying and for those using traditional rollers or blades.
To apply Bagar Airliss G with an Airless machine, it is recommended to use wide tips suited to the high viscosity of the compound. In general, 5.31 to 5.35 tips are perfectly suited to a machine delivering a flow rate of 5 L/min. If you have a more powerful machine, it is possible to go up to a 5.39 tip, which makes it possible to increase the flow rate while maintaining even application.
The choice of tip has a direct impact on the quality of the spray application, the evenness of the film, and application comfort. A properly sized tip limits overloading, marks or possible clogging, and guarantees a uniform coat that is easy to smooth manually or mechanically.
The optimum coverage of Bagar Airliss G depends on the type of pump, the pressure used, and the level of finish expected. For a result without reworking and controlled application, it is essential to follow the technical recommendations. All detailed information can be found in the product technical data sheet.
An Airless compound is a product designed to be applied by spray without compressed air, using a high-pressure machine. This technique is based on the direct projection of the compound, without the addition of air, via a pump that sends the product through a calibrated tip: an Airless machine.
Airless application provides much higher productivity than manual application, particularly on finishing trade jobsites. A compound such as Bagar Airliss G, specifically formulated for this technology, guarantees a smooth and rapid finish, while also making sanding easier if necessary.
Bagar Airliss G is a ready-to-use Airless paste compound, which avoids any manual preparation. This type of compound is used to cover large surfaces quickly, with an even finish and no excess thickness.
For a damaged wall, a compound must be chosen that is capable of both filling defects and smoothing the surface. Bagar Airliss G is ideal in this case: it makes it possible both to correct irregularities and to prepare a substrate ready for painting, without changing product between stages.
Its ready-to-use paste formulation makes it possible to treat cracked, scratched or slightly hollow walls quickly, with defects up to 5 mm. A first coat makes it possible to level out the defects, while a second, finer coat ensures a quality finish.
This type of compound is particularly suited to interior renovation walls, where defects are often numerous but shallow. With Bagar Airliss G, it is possible to restore a clean, neat and decorative wall without multiplying products.
If the irregularities are greater than 5 mm, Bagar Airliss SG must be used, a rough skimming compound that covers irregularities up to 8 mm.
